1. Head over to eMAR to start the process of adding a medication.
  2. Click on the green Add Medication Button to add the medication.

 


  • Drug Name: Type the first 3 letters and click the name matching the doctor's order.
    (Cloud icon = Custom Med - Pill icon = Default Drug Database)
  • Drug Route: Will auto-populate from the database.
  • Drug Strength: List all known Strengths. Strength missing? Refer to the Adding a Custom Medication
  • Dosage Form: Auto-populates from the database.
  • Start Date: Select the date you wish to sign meds or when prescribed.
  • Start Time: The exact time the order started. For example, start signing at 8 AM from the start date.
  • End Date: Meds that have a stop date. For example, antibiotics are to be taken for 7 days.
  • Rx#: To be included listed from the pharmacy MARs. Will communicate with the pharmacy on refills.
  • Prescriber: Select who prescribed the med, Physician not listed? Add one by clicking the +Add button.

  • Frequency: BID, TID, QAM - Follow the doctor's order, choose the time, and select AM or PM
  • Time of Administration: When the med needs to be taken
  • Dosage: How many pills or amounts to be given each time. (1 tablet twice daily)
  • Instructions: Copy doctor's order or the default instructions as-is. Double-check instructions for the staff to follow.
  • Reason: Keep it short simple or copy the reason from the pharmacy.


  • Additional Options: Expiration Date, Tracking Quantity, Delegated, Ok to crush, Seld Managed.
    (Physically not handling or giving the Med. The Med is in their room locked up)
  • Vital Restrictions: Check Blood Pressure before giving Med. Enter a number to hold, Systolic < 100.
  • Click Save when finished

  • Check the Medication List with your newly added Medication.
  • Click on the medication to view more details.
