1. Go to EMAR followed by Medication List

  • Click: eMAR

  • Click: Medications

 

2. Medication List Overview

  • +Add Medication: Click the button to start adding Medications manually
    • Follow each order according to the doctor's written instructions
  • Print: Create a copy of the medication list for store away as a backup
    • Fax a list to the Doctor to sign and fax back
  • Filter: Change the view to find what you are looking for
  • 3 Dots: The action button gives you a few options for the selected Med
    • Edit allows you to go back and make an adjustment to the order, changing the name is not allowed
    • Upload Order allows you to attach a copy of the written instructions to view in Med Pass and to keep a digital copy
    • Discontinue allows you to stop the administration of that Med to make it inactive and not on the Med Pass
      • You can Restore a Discontinued Med to change or pass that med for a previous day
    • Delete allows you to completely erase all information for that Med and staff signatures
      • Deleted meds can be retrieved but require the Dev team to get involved, be careful!

 

3. Filter

  • Status: All shows every Medication ever written for the Resident
    • Scheduled displays future Medications, the Start Date when adding a Med triggers this
    • Active displays the current Medication the Resident takes, displayed on the Med Pass
    • Discontinued displays inactive Medications and is no longer given through the Med Pass
      • Medications can still be given if a signature was missed on a previous day
  • Type: Scheduled displays only the Active Meds
    • PRN displays only as needed Meds
  • Sort by: Alphabetical is the default
    • Start Date: When the Resident started taking the Med
    • End Date: When the Resident stops taking the Med
    • Added Date: Displays the first medication entered
    • Discontinued Date: Displays the first Discontinued Med
  • Sort Order: Ascending flips the order from top to bottom
    • Descending: flips the order from bottom to top

 

4. Edit

  • Proceed: to edit the fields that are allowed
    • The medication name cannot be changed due to database restrictions
  • Changing: certain fields will discontinue the current order on that day and time
    • Check off the dialog box to confirm the change and to create a new order 

  • After you are aware of the changes and save, you will see a new order on the Med Log
