1. Go to EMAR followed by Med Pass

  • Click: eMAR

  • Click: Med Pass

 

2. Indicating Colors to Follow

  • Green: Given status - Staff member has clicked the Given box to indicate they have administered the Med
    • Note Pad: When Given, the staff can add additional info on the administration
    • Not Given: Staff has not administered the Med. The resident was out at the time
    • Refused: Resident did not want to take Med so they declined the administration
  • Red: Was not given and missed the 1-hour window of time as a buffer to make as Given
    • Have Staff always go to the Med Pass first to knock out administrations
    • Staff might need to enter a Vital to continue with the administration
  • Yellow: Is a Buffer of 1-hour before and after the time of administration
    • Ok to give a few minutes before actual administration
  • Clear-Grayed out: Cannot administer the medication until Yellow

 

3. A Break Down of the Med Pass

  1. Time: Shows the when the medication should be administered, the earliest entry is always at the top
  2. Parameters: When adding a medication, you apply a few additional instructions for that order
    • May-Crush: Tells the staff the medications ok to crush
    • Delegated: A delegation has been applied to this Medication
    • Orders (Paperclip): When uploading an order and attaching it to the medication, you get a preview
  3. Vital Parameters: Each medication can have a Vital attached to it to record before administration.
    • Some orders require a Blood Pressure before administration, the staff clicks the icon to record the reading
    • Multiple vitals can be attached to an order
    • Vitals recorded will be stored in Reports and Health Monitor for later use
  4. Name and Instructions: Displays the Medication name along with the Instructions on how to administer the Med
    • Copy the Doctors orders to the Instructions to keep things in unison
  5. Reason: Copy the orders Reason why this is to be taken
    • Use the default reason when entering a Med, this can be changed at any time
  6. Dose: Shows how many Tablets or Applications for each administration - Take Two Tabs Twice Daily
  7. Status: Mark what the staff member did with the medications
    • Not Given
    • Given
    • Refused
